Youth Matrix rallies support for Uwajumogu -

POLITICS:

Youth Matrix, a youth pressure group has vowed to continue to rally support for the speaker Imo State House of Assembly Rt. Honourable Benjamin Uwajumogu till his electoral mandate is returned to him.

This is as the group has commended the Imo House of Assembly for amending the laws establishing the proposed Imo Turkish University, Imo state College of Education (Technical) and Imo state Polytechnic respectively.

In a press statement jointly signed by the Okigwe Zonal coordinator of the group, Hon Chinagorom Cyracuse, his Okigwe South and his Okigwe North counterparts, Mr Tobechi Okafor and Mr. Emeka Owoama respectively and made available to journalists in Owerri, recently, the youth group commended Rt Hon Uwajumogu who contested for the senatorial position in Okigwe zone under the platform of All Progressives Congress , APC, for his political maturity in handling the fallout of what they termed ‘flawed elections’ and urged him to be steadfast and focused till justice is dispensed.

“We have been watching the political developments in Imo State with keen interest. We have also been monitoring events at the Imo State elections Tribunal in the state. Though we frown at the snail speed at which the tribunal is going occasioned by the antics of some parties involved in the cases, we commend Rt. Honourable Benjamin Uwajumogu for his political maturity. We stand by him now and always because we know the stuff he is made of.

“We know he is the only senatorial candidate that has an expansive youth development programme. We also know that he is a man of his words and a man with a proven track record of dedicated service to his people. To this end, we have resolved to continue to rally support for him till his mandate is returned to him. We believe that he is politically and intellectually sound to represent the youths of Okigwe zone at the senate and we would continue to canvass support for him till we see him through to the senate”, they said.

The youth group also commended the speaker and the Imo state House of Assembly for being proactive in the amendment of laws setting up the proposed Imo Turkish University and renaming it Imo state Claretian University Onuimo Okigwe to attract more investment opportunities to the zone and the state in general.

They also praised the House of Assembly for amending the law establishing the Imo state College of Education (Technical), Ihitte Uboma stressing that it is a welcome development considering that in the long run, the institutions will be beneficial in imparting skills and knowledge to youths of the zone, the state and Nigeria as a whole.

“We also want to commend the speaker and members of the House of Assembly for amending the laws establishing the Imo Turkish University to Imo State Claretian University Onuimo, Okigwe to attract more investment opportunities to the state.

“It is also in this light that we praise the efforts of the House of Assembly as they amended the law establishing Imo State College of Education (Technical) to become Imo state College of Education with a view to expanding the institution’s scope and ensuring sustainability of the citadel of learning.

“Similarly, we applaud the House of Assembly for amending the law establishing the Imo state Polytechnic to enable the institution begin awarding degrees like B.Tech and HND. This will give the institution the leverage to be more attractive and ensure that graduates from the tertiary institution will have competitive advantage in the global labour market.

“We make bold to say that these amendments are youth oriented and in the long run will ensure that Imo state is the educational capital of the country. We stand solidly behind Rt Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu on whose watch these laudable amendments were made”.
Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu
