GROUP DEVISES STRATGIES TO FIGHT CORRUPTION

Barely two days to President elect, Mr Muhammed Buhari being sworn in as Commander in Chief, a pressure group, War Against Indiscipline and Corruption Squad has devised strategies to put an end to corruption in the country.

The group through its convener, Dr Uche Diala reiterated their committment to joining forces with the president elect to fight the twin ills of corruption and indiscipline in the society.

Lamenting the negative effect of corruption and indiscipline in the country, Dr Diala argued that a moral reorientation added to networking with relevant government Ministries Departments and Agencies, MDAs will go a long in reducing the two ills.

"We are all aware of how pervasive indiscipline and corruption have become and the need to change hearts, minds and orientation. We have designed a deliberate strategy that will ensure that we touch the foundations of society representated by the family, schools and religious institutions bringing about the required change. This will require a bottom up approach driven by citizen participation", Dr Diala said.

According to him, individual and institution participation will be the two modes of operation that the group will explore in the following days adding that the citizen participation model is one sure way of creating WAIC SQUADs in schools, government MDAs, markets, motor parks, hospitals, barracks etc.

"The change we seek is individual. Therefore we shall have individual squad members who will be examplary individuals in their communities irrrspective of educational or financial status.

"We will partner widely in creative and ingenuous ways with relevant agencies, organs of government, NGOs and Civil Society Organisations. We will partner with similar minded NGOs in pursuit of our mission and vision", he said.

Some of the members of the group who cobtributed observed that the war against indiscipline and corruption was one they will ensure they win.

Jerry Chukwu in his words said : "This is a mission that we all must join. I am in full time, while Ikenna Bruno Onyeso observed that "this mission must be accomplished", adding that he is totally inmersed in it.

In the words of Peter Nwankwo, "For all that is noble; for all that is free; for all that is decent; for all that is incorruptible, WAIC will be part of me".

Other members called for a stakeholder's meeting to deliberate further on how to win the war against indiscipline and corruption.

Recall that the group recently kicked off mobilizing about one million squad members in a bid to reach out more to Nigerians and sensitize them on the effects of corruption and indiscipline.

The group had disclosed that their effort is to support Mr Muhammed Buhari whom they called Disciplinarian in Chief being the highest rank in the group.
