Six years after, Abia Chapter set to host AGM

Six years after her inauguration, Abia Distinctive Chapter is set to host the Imo State university Alumni Association Convention and Annual General Meeting slated to take place between 8 and 11 August, 2024. 

This is as the National Executive Council and Abia Chapter executives are leaving no stone unturned to make sure they have a hitch free convention. Specifically, The NEC has set up a national working group that would not only co-ordinate proceedings but would also interface with the Local Organizing Committee to ensure a hitch free event.

Abia Chapter on her part is working round the clock meeting and strategizing on how to give the over 300 delegates who will storm Umuahia the capital city, a swell time.

Abia Distinctive Chapter will join the league of state chapters that have hosted the Convention and Annual General Meeting which is in its 7th edition. A roll call of state chapters that have played host to this epoch making event include Enugu Chapter who pioneered the hosting, Rivers state chapter hosted afterwards while Imo, Mother Chapter hosted the third Convention. Other state chapters that have hosted the Convention include Abuja, Lagos and Bayelsa in that order. 

Abia Distinctive Chapter was inaugurated on November 1, 2018 under the leadership of SP Crespo Epuzoaju. Since then, the chapter has seen the leadership baton pass to Dr. Larry Unachukwu and then to the indefatigable Mr. John Chika. 

The membership strength of the chapter has been growing from strength to strength as many professionals from different fields of endeavour come each month to identify with the Chapter and join in the events by the chapter.

Only recently, the proactive John Chika - led administration ignited the Aba sub-chapter in a bid to carry along all Imo stars from all walks of life living in Abia state. The fusion of Aba professionals and Umuahia stars has engendered a healthy mix that has seen meetings held in both Aba and Umuahia. It has also brought forth many new ideas and strategies such that the members are better for it. 

The State Chapter is not resting on its oars as it is doing everything to ensure that over 300 stars that will come for the convention will have special memories to go home with. 

In a meeting recently, the Chairman restated his resolve to ensure that guests have a memorable time during the four day period. He emphasized the need for the chapter and his executive members to be strategic in all they do to ensure a hitch free Convention.
