ABIA 2024: Health, Sports and Fun Dominate Activities


Ahead of the August 2024 Imo State University Alumni Association Convention, a sneak peek into the activities scheduled for the over 300 Imo stars indicate a healthy mix of both health related activities, sports and solid entertainment. 
As the Local Organizing Committee members are working round the clock to ensure a successful Convention, Straight Talk with Chukwudi can authoritatively disclose that novelty match, health walks, visit to places of interest and dinner parties are among the activities slated to entertain guests.

It was gathered that there would be a dinner party on the 8th of August after guests must have arrived and rested. This dinner party is expected to usher the over 300 guests a sneak peek into what to expect in the following days of the convention. Feelers from the Distinctive chapter indicate that they are unrelenting in providing a world class party. Guests will savour the alluring, enchanting and exquisite specimens. 
The next day, we gathered, has been fully packed with activities that will thrill the over 300 delegates expected to grace the Convention. While there will be a health walk, it seems unclear if the host chapter will do a free medical outreach. Also, the LOC is still fine tuning the distance and route for the walk. As at press time, letters are being sent out to relevant agencies for collaboration to ensure success. 
Slated for the same day, is a visit to some of the places of interest in Umuahia. Some places that come to mind include the National War Museum and the prestigious Ojukwu Bunker. At the War Museum, guests would have the first hand opportunity to see and feel the weaponry that was used during the Biafran war among other things. The Ojukwu Bunker, it was gathered offers a different view that would prick the attention of guests. 
In the evening of the second day, Imo Stars would be regaled again with the interesting night life in the Capital City. The LOC, it was learnt, is planning a well packaged dinner and after party where A list comedians, comperes and artistes are being lined up to entertain Imo stars. 
It is also expected that fun-loving Imo Stars will have the opportunity to explore some local cuisine, fresh undiluted palm wine and other dishes local to Umuahia and Abia State.

Abia Chapter to storm Aba for historic meeting

Chukwudi Obi Barring any last-minute changes, members of Imo state University Alumni Association, Abia Distinctive Chapter have concluded arrangements to host their monthly general meeting in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state.  In a statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Uchenna Ugochukwu, and made available to newsmen in Umuahia, the state capital, the meeting is scheduled to take place at Tiger Bar, Opposite Abia Poly Aba while time is 3pm.  The meeting, he said, which is the first of its kind in the history of the Chapter is geared towards giving graduates of Imo state university who reside in Aba a sense of belonging and ensure that they are carried along in the scheme of things.  In his own words, the Chairman of the chapter, Mr. John Ogbuji while encouraging recent and old graduates to avail themselves of the opportunity to meet with other professionals, network and drive development at the grassroot level, noted that the historic meeting in Aba is onl
