ABIA 2024: Proper Planning, Team Spirit key to successful hosting - Porpor, former FCT Chairman
Ahead of the 7th
Imo State University Alumni Association, (IMSUAA) National Convention, a former
chairman, FCT Pacesetter Chapter, Mr. Charles Nwosu has enjoined the Local Organizing
Committee and members of Abia Distinctive Chapter to take the coordination and organization
of the forth coming convention as a personal project, insisting that an
excellent team spirit and can do spirit will ensure massive success of the
convention.
Nwogu who listed some
of the pitfalls to avoid while organizing the Convention to include lack of proper
planning, inability to carry every member along and high handedness on the part
of the organizers.

According to him:
“I am actually
expecting a lot from Abia Convention 2024. With the caliber of men and women
there, we don't expect anything less than a world class event. Remember I was
in Umuahia during the last (2023) yuletide, so the type of fun I had has given
me a clue of what to expect during the convention. Especially the palm wine
flavour you SunnyblaQ (in particular) will add to the whole fiesta.
“It's on record that
FCT Chapter under my tenure as the chapter chairman hosted one of the best
Conventions in the history of the Alumni both in content and activities. Abia
Chapter has started well with early preparations. Once the chapter chairman/his
EXCO and the Convention committee takes this like their personal projects, they
will not only organize a successful event but will also exceed expectations.
Start your fund raising on time because without funds, you won't be able to
achieve much.
“Do not over budget
just to impress people. Don't do more than your capacity. As in, you don't need
to break a bank to organize "the best convention". Proper planning,
coordination and strategy is all you need for a successful hosting. Finally, do
not make the mistake of feeling that you know it all. Get ideas from all and
sundry take the most relevant ones that fits into your vision for the
convention”
On his now popular Porpor Nite which was instituted by the National President, Barr. Okey Ozumba, he had this to say:
"The Porpor Nite for this year will have more glamour, fun and razzmatazz to the admiration of not just Imo stars but the general public as well".
