All Set for Inauguration of Imo Lawmakers

Barring any last minute changes, the 27 members of the Imo state House of Assembly will be inaugurated this morning.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo and made available to newsmen, the time for the inauguration is put at 10 am while the venue is the Imo state Assembly complex.

“The inauguration will take place following the earlier proclamation by His Excellency for the event on Thursday in line with the letters of section 105 sub-section 31 of the Constitution which empowers the governor as the Chief Executive of the sate to perform such constitutional functions”, Onwuemeodo said.
According to the CPS, before the inauguration, Governor Okorocha will commission the Assembly complex “that has been made the best and indeed the largest legislative edifice in the South-east and one of the best in the country”.

He said: “It has always been the dream and desire of the governor to see and ensure that all the arms of government in the state function, not only effectively, but in a very conducive and dignifying structures and atmosphere.  And the governor will continue on that page so that the state shall continue to be on the fast lane of development, growth and progress.
Patriotic citizens of the state wishing or willing to witness the historic event of inaugurating the new House and the commissioning of the magnificent Assembly complex, vis-à-vis the emergence of the officers that will preside over the affairs of the Assembly for the next four years, will be accorded warm reception also in the spirit of the philosophy of the Rescue Mission Government in the state”.

Recall that torrents of praises and eulogies filled the legislative chambers of the Imo State House of Assembly recently, when members of the seventh house of Assembly filed out to observe their valedictory session.  

Irrespective of political affiliations, the lawmakers took turns in emotional laden tones to honour and pay glowing tributes to their leader and the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, for what they adjudged as his outstanding performance in the past four years.

According to many of them, the sterling leadership attributes of the Speaker in creating stability and coordinating the activities of the House to touch the lives of Imo citizens was exceptional and record breaking.

Abia 2024: Imo Stars in Aba, host Stars Hangout

Ahead of the Imo State University Alumni Association National Convention coming up in August, all hands are on deck to ensure that the event would be a tremendous success.  Specifically, Imo Stars resident in Aba have announced a Stars Hangout in a bid to have fun, foster relationships and galvanise support for the forth coming  National convention.  It is on record that the Local Organizing Committee are working round the clock to make sure they leave no stone unturned in a bid to carry everyone along. In a statement forwarded by the Chairman, Abia Distinctive Chapter, Mr. John Chika Ogbuji, the Stars' Hangout is slated to hold on 27th May, 2024 at Tiger Bar opposite Abia State Polytechnic Aba.
