Over 500 to attend IMSU Alumni Global Convention

Barring any last minute changes, at least 500 members of the Imo state University  Alumni Association will attend the 3rd Annual Global Convention  of the Association in Owerri.

This is as  both the Local Organizing Committee and National Organizing Committee have concluded arrangements to ensure a successful hosting of the annual event.

In a statement jointly signed by the national President of IMSUAA, Prince Ezeala Akanno and national Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ugochukwu  Okorozoh in Owerri, the Imo state capital, the four day event began today with a fast and praying session.

According to the statement, IMSU graduates and members of the alumni from all the Chapters around the World are expected to start arriving tomorrow  Thursday August 8, 2019.

The four-day event will feature a cocktail at Maranatha Hotel Owerri  on the arrival date by 8pm while Business exhibition tagged 'House of Friendship' will take place on Friday August 9 from 10 am at the Conference Hall of Maranatha Hotel.

The National Executive Council and members of the alumni will pay a visit to an orphanage by 11:00 am on Friday while by 12 noon of same day, NEC will pay a courtesy visit to the Executive Governor of Imo State His Excellency Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha at Douglas House Owerri.

According to the statement, by 2 pm on Friday, August 9, there will be a Town Hall Meeting with the Vice Chancellor of Imo State University at the IMSU auditorium  plus a tree planting campaign while  Food Challenge will take place by 5.00 pm at Eastern Emirates Hotel.

Other activities lined up for the annual convention include Dinner at Transtell Hotel by 7 pm on Friday, Annual General Meeting (AGM) by 8:00 pm also at the same venue and a road walk on Saturday to campaign against Suicide and Drug Abuse.

The Convention and gala night will take place on Saturday August 10 while an interdenominational thanksgiving service on Sunday August 11, will round off the event.

To ensure that the social media frenzy is very high, the Chairman Publicity Subcommittee Ik Ogbonna has admonished members of the alumni to use the hashtag #Owerri20193rdIMSUAlumniGlobalConvention,  e-fliers and wall papers on all their social media platforms.
According to him, "All posts including pictures should be done with the Hashtag. This will help spread the message and provide an umbrella for all posts regarding the convention".
